Description

The GA-V01 looks like nothing else in the G-SHOCK range, and in blue-violet it is harder still to miss. Bezel and strap are one piece, and the hour markers are raised bumpers that overlap the crystal to take the blows.

The idea worth repeating is the Shock Release Hand. The oversized minute hand is held in place by magnets, so a hard knock moves it aside and it settles back without losing its place. That is what lets the hands be this big. Behind them, a metallic openwork dial sits over a full-screen LCD.

It is analogue-digital quartz with world time, a 1/100-second stopwatch, a countdown timer, 5 daily alarms and a double LED light, on a CR2025 battery rated for about 10 years. The resin case measures 49.1 × 58.2 × 19.6 mm and is water resistant to 200 m.
