URWERK introduces the UR-120 Blue Planet
URWERK co-founders Martin Frei and Felix Baumgartner turned a science-fiction gesture into a complication, and for the last UR-120 they dress it in deep blue and gold.
URWERK today introduces the UR-120 Blue Planet, the third and final version of the UR-120, limited to 20 pieces. For one last time, its satellites open.

Three hour satellites orbit a central carousel. As each reaches the left side of the case, its two arms split into a V, the Vulcan salute. A lyre-shaped spring controls the opening and Maltese crosses set the sequence, both finished in 24K yellow-gold PVD.
The sandblasted steel case is built in two interlocking parts, with no visible screws on top. A spring hidden in the 6 o’clock lug adjusts the fit on the wrist, and inside is the self-winding Calibre UR-20.01.
“The UR-120’s carousel alone comprises 175 components, while the complexity of the satellites requires us to control their interactions to the nearest micron,” says Baumgartner, URWERK’s master watchmaker.
It is the last word from URWERK on a shape it opened three times, each time in a different light.
