Czapek Antarctique Rattrapante R.U.R.
Description
The word “robot” came into the world through Karel Čapek’s 1920 play R.U.R. A century on, Czapek has put one on a split-seconds chronograph and given it a job.
The head is titanium, made by MD’Art, hand-polished and laser-engraved, with eyes micro-painted in neon. Start the chronograph and they turn yellow; stop it and they go red; reset and they glow blue. Under the grey-metallised sapphire dial, the rattrapante mechanism itself sits on the dial side, where Czapek moved it.
The SXH6 is automatic, with twin column wheels, an isolator and a 60-hour power reserve, wound by an openworked rotor in 5N recycled rose gold. The 42.5 mm steel case is 15.3 mm thick and water resistant to 120 m, on an integrated C-link bracelet. Limited to 77 pieces.
